Located in Hansonville, VA, the Family Bluegrass Barn hosts bluegrass, country, and old time music every Saturday night, from 7:30-10:30pm. Started eighteen years ago by the late George Francis Sr., the Bluegrass Barn still goes strong today, now run by son, George Francis Jr. and his wife Regina.
George's group, the Dixie River Band was the house band for many years, and still play about once a month.
If you like to dance, this is your venue, with one of the largest dance floors east of the Mississippi. Lots of flatfooters come out to shows, two-stepping is a favorite among the crowd, and occasional square dances are held. Great mix of bluegrass, old time and honky tonk, country to dance to.
I consider this a "real-deal" place with a nice, down home, country feel. It is also a venue where you see all ages from toddlers to teenagers to older generations. Family fun environment!
$5 cover charge, 12 and under free
Concession stand
